The First Good Friday
The first Good Friday most probably fell on Friday the 24th of March 29 AD. Tertullian and Lactantius, writing within a century of the event, say: “The Jews crucified Christ on the seventh day before the Kalends of April (March 24th), in the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Ceasar, and in the consulship of the two Gemini.” From the history of Pagan Rome, it is known for certain that Rubellius and Fucius Geminus were the consuls in the year 29 AD. © Evangelization Station, 2010 |
